Print Design Development
Using the personal treasure investigated to determine the nature of connection, my print design started within Photoshop. Stemming from my research into curation and the purpose and meaning of communicative display I collaged my ‘things’ to tell an emotive visual story.
This was the beginning of a more experimental approach to creating imagery utilizing contact printing methods of the past, such as cyanotype and lumen prints. In addition, initial sampling with dye sublimation, generated simulated cyanotypes which could also be achieved with Photoshop.
My increasing love of the cyanotype process coincided with the beginning of lockdown and allowed me to continue creatively for the remainder of the first year of my masters.
Throughout my project I experimented with, screen print, gold foil and pigment embellishment, mixed media and solar print but it was cyanotype that generated the most exciting imagery.
